About Linda

As a little girl all I ever wanted to be was an actress (as we were called then!). It took a while but eventually it happened and here I am now, living my dream!

Singing and dancing in concert party shows, with a group called The Taverners, as one third of a tap dancing trio called Triple Step. Being offered terrific roles in plays with Harlow Theatre Company, an excellent local amateur company that is still going strong. A post graduate course at East 15 drama school. All these things spurred me on to take the final leap to become, what I’d always wanted to be, a professional actor.

I formed a cabaret duo called Hokum ‘n’ Harmony with a friend, Steve Hannam, and put together a show entitled “Music, Comedy and Dance from 1900 to 1950” (OK, not exactly eye-catching and pithy but certainly informative!) which we toured around and which eventually earned us our precious Equity cards. Steve and I were both lucky to get our first professional jobs soon after, a London fringe play for me and a pantomime for him.

That was in 1992 and since then I’ve had the good fortune to do seasons of repertory theatre, touring theatre, straight plays, comedies, musicals, pantomime and films.

Television work includes playing a mobile hairdresser in “That Peter Kay Thing”, a magistrate in “Emmerdale”, a Carrionite witch called Mother Bloodtide in “Doctor Who” and Janet Dent, Marcus’ Mum in “Coronation Street”.

I've also had the wonderful opportunity of an Off Broadway run in a New York theatre with the play "Once a Year on Blackpool Sands". The play was subsequently turned into a film, with the six characters from the play reprising their roles. We then had the double pleasure of heading off to New York again where the film had its first, pre-release screening. There are, thank goodness, still more projects in the pipeline.

Never give up on your dreams. With hard work and determination they can, sometimes, actually come true!
